Near Fisher's Hotel in Pitlochry
Pitlochry is in the heart of Highland Perthshire and is a walker’s paradise. With its excellent network of well marked routes, ranging from gentle strolls to challenging hikes surrounded by dramatic scenery, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Pitlochry and the surrounding areas are steeped in history and folklore which you can discover along many of the different routes. Here at the Fisher’s Hotel, we have listed some of the most popular walks which include tracks and paths along the river, routes through pretty woodlands and hill walks from where you can experience spectacular views.
Loch Faskally
Only a 5 minute drive from Fisher’s Hotel, Loch Faskally and the salmon ladder walk is only 5km and is suitable for all levels. The walk includes an attractive metal suspension bridge over the river, passes the festival centre and the fish ladder on the dam before following the peaceful waters of Loch Faskally. A hill walk crossing an area of Scottish moorland scenery, before rising to a summit with superb panoramic views.
Ben Vrackie
Ben Vrackie is a 9.2km out and back trail that features a lake and beautiful scenery all around and is rated as difficult. Located only a 10 minute drive from Fisher’s Hotel, this trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running and nature trips. The views of the valley are breathtaking and the summit is well worth the climb.
River Tummel Loop
The River Tummel Loop is an 11.6km lightly trafficked loop trail near Pitlochry that features a river and is good for all skill levels. Located just over a 10 minute drive from our hotel, this stretch of Perthshire countryside is ideal for a revitalising walk. The picturesque combination of water and woodland is also home to a rich variety of wildlife.
Queens View & Visitor Centre
Located just over a 10 minute drive from Fisher’s Hotel, Queen’s View lies at the heart of Highland Perthshire and is the area’s most popular visitor attraction. A gentle 4km walk through mixed forestry and some viewpoints include a restored black house and a ring fort and the walk has one of the most iconic panoramas in Scotland.
Falls of Bruar
The dramatic Falls of Bruar, located just 15 minutes drive from our hotel are best observed in wet weather conditions. A moderate 2km walk, the Falls of Bruar is a set of picturesque waterfalls on Bruar Water, near Blair Atholl in the Perthshire Highlands. The path does get steep in places but there are strategically placed benches to take a rest and enjoy the stunning woodland.
