Black Spout Wood & Waterfall
Stay At Fisher's Hotel
Located in the south of the highland resort town of Pitlochry, just a 4-minute drive from Fisher’s Hotel, lies the stunning and picturesque Black Spout Wood & Waterfall. Black Spout Wood is a 1.3 Kilometer moderately trafficked out and back trail that is suitable for all skill levels and features a waterfall along its tracks.
Black Spout Wood is home to many species of fauna including Roe Deer, Foxes, Red Squirrels and Moles. Bird life includes Woodpeckers, Dipper, Heron, Tits, Treecreepers and more.
The Waterfall is hugely impressive and is in a small gorge in the Edradour burn. The 60m waterfall is especially impressive after heavy rainfall. Visitors can view the stunning waterfall via a viewing platform giving superb views of the gorge below.
Historically, withing the wood you will fins a large Iron homestead perched on a cliff above the Edradour Burn near to the waterfall. This was excavated by Perthj & Kinross Heritage Trust between 2005 – 2009.
Continuing along the path, visitors will come across spectacular views of Ben Vrackie and the village of Moulin below.
Black Spout Wood & Waterfall makes for a perfect day out. Make sure to visit this hidden gem on your visit to Pitlochry.
Pick up a Pitlochry walk leaflet from the Pitlochry visitor information centre, which contains a map showing the route with some simple guidance notes too.
