Etape Caledonia Pitlochry 2013

The event will be starting just outside Fishers Hotel!!

Why not join us this year for the highlight of every Scottish cyclers year, for the Marie Curie Cancer Care Etape Caledonia. This year on Sunday the 12th May, riders aged between 18 and 80 will cycle an 81 mile circular route. The event is starting right outside the Fishers Hotel and covers some of the most scenic parts of Highland Perthshire.

Enchanted Forest Event

Breaks box office records

This year Pitlochrys annual light show event in Faskally Forest, was a great sucess.  All our guests enjoyed it and are looking forward to coming back next year.  More than a thousand visitors enjoyed our family dinner before their forest adventure.  The 2013 event starts on the 10th October.  You can sign up for our newsletter if you would like to know when tickets go on sale.

This summer the many charitiy fund raisers who take take advantage of our prime location have enjoyed the extra shelter of our newly restored canopy.

These Bell Ringers brightened Atholl Road in July.

Our Gardens in Flower

we have had some sunshine!

The moving gulf stream might have caused endless rain in England but Pitlochry has only had slightly more rain than an average July and our flowers and gardeners have made the most of the long, long hours of daylight and are blooming!

With everyone talking about what was great in the 1950's we have taken the oppourtunity of the wonderful weather to get our Croquet Lawn ready.

Innes and Kenny have been working on the Fisher's Hotel gardens for almost a year now and the results of their dedicated work can been seen thoughout the gardens and most particulary on the lawns.

The gardens at our Station Entrance are a cool haven to take in the Scottish sunshine with a cocktail, or a pint, only yards from the shops and bustle of Pitlochry's Atholl Road.

Vintage Car Returns

after 40 years!

We are always happy to welcome back our guests - even if it takes 40 years between visits - so we were delighted to receive this letter and photographs. 

40 years ago, at Easter 1972, I stayed in your hotel on my way up from Land’s End to John O’Groats in my 1932 vintage Austin 7.  40 years later my son and I decided to do it again but the other way round, and decided to stay at your hotel again for old time’s sake!!

Attached are two photos 40 years apart of the same car (different colour) at your hotel, I even used the same sign, modified, on the back.

  For interest we did in fact make it to Land’s End as planned.

Steam Trains at Pitlochry Station

calling all steam train spotters!

A Steam train travelling from Inverness to Glasgow will be stopping for about 20 minutes at Pitlochry station tomorrow (Tuesday). 

At this time of year you can often be lucky enough to see an empty steam train on it's way up to the Highland heritage railway lines, like the one pictured which came through on Saturday 21st April, but tomorrow's train will have passengers.

At Fisher's Hotel Pitlochry we are becoming very interested in trains as we approch next year's centenary of the opening of Pitlochry Station.

Victorian Arcade

Restoration Is Complete

It comes with great pleasure to announce that the restoration of the Victorian Arcade at Fisher's Hotel is now fully complete.

The team at Fisher's are delighted with the restoration and we hope you will be aswell.

The gardening team at Fisher's Hotel are eager to brighten up the new Victorian Arcade with some hanging baskets once the weather is a little more appealing.

We are happy to announce that as part of our on going refurbishment of Fishers’ Hotel we are now in the final stages of restoring the Victorian Arcade. 

This is very exciting, as we are restoring an integral part of Fishers’ history.

At Fisher’s hotel we have made it our priority to improve every aspect of our hotel to ensure our guests continue to have a pleasant and enjoyable stay.

So where better to start than restoring the Victorian Arcade. The Victorian Arcade was part of the original building and at Fisher’s Hotel we are restoring the traditional aspects of the hotel.

The Victorian Arcades are a unique aspect of Pitlochry town centre and as The New Fisher's Hotel is at the ‘Heart’ of Pitlochry it was only fitting that the Victorian Arcade was restored.
